Urban Native Housing Program Rentals
Native People of Sudbury Development Corporation (NPSDC) is accepting applications for a two (2) bedroom Senior Citizens’ apartment in Sudbury, Ontario. The unit will be coming available over the next few months.
Couples of Canadian Indigenous (Native) ancestry (Status, Non-Status, Inuit or Métis) are encouraged to apply for this apartment. Note that at least 50% of the household must be of Canadian Indigenous (Native) ancestry to qualify for this rental unit. Applicants must also qualify for seniors’ housing
The apartment is located in a quiet bungalow-style Senior Citizens’ building with secured access and video surveillance. NPSDC units are allocated based on family size. As such, this unit is suitable for an elderly couple who require two bedrooms due to medical issues. Elderly couples must provide documentation substantiating the need for two bedrooms. Consideration may also be given to elderly friends who are not a couple but who wish to reside together.
Heat and water is paid by the landlord. Hydro is included in the rental calculation. The unit is supplied with a fridge and stove. The unit also has a heat pump which can provide air conditioning in hot weather and extra warmth in the cooler months. Coin-operated laundry facilities are on site. There is access to the yard through a patio door. Parking may be available on site, or directly next door at the landlord’s other property.
Rents are based on 25% of the combined gross household income plus a flat hydro charge per month. Applicants and tenants must provide detailed income information at least annually.
