Description

Manitoba Hydro project currently underway in the RM of Springfield has 2 houses on site that are slated for demolition/relocation. In accordance with Bird Construction and Manitoba Hydro’s commitment to waste reduction and landfill diversion, both houses are being listed publicly for interested parties to remove the houses from site and relocate to a new location.

All work shall be completed in accordance with the following scope of work:

CDO – HOUSE REMOVAL
Generally, the scope of work for house removal at the CDO project includes the removal of (2) houses from a Hydro site. These houses are identified in the photos in Appendix A, referred to as “House to the West” and “House to the North”. These houses are to be relocated to an alternate location to be re-established as home/office spaces. The Scope or Work related to this activity is further clarified in the list below.
1. Engage approved structure relocation company to assist in the removal of the Houses from site, and their relocation to new property.
2. Provide all necessary manpower, supervision and resources required, inclusive of overtime premiums and incidentals.
3. Scope of work references portions of the following specification sections, however does not include them in their entirety:
a. 01 74 19 Waste Management and Disposal
b. 01 74 00 Cleaning and Waste Management
c. 02 41 13 Selective Site Demolition
d. 31 23 33 Excavating, Trenching and Backfilling
e. 31 22 23 Rough Grading
f. 32 32 19 Geotextiles
g. 32 11 16 Granular Sub-Base
h. 32 11 23 Aggregate Base Courses
4. Arrange for decommissioning and disconnection of gas, power, and telephone/internet services, including but not limited to:
a. Notification as require to all utility providers
b. Removal of Hydro meters
c. Disconnection and removal of all electrical boxes surrounding the houses required for moving.
d. Disconnection of power lines
e. Disconnection of gas lines
f. Disconnection of water lines
g. Removal of satellite tower at House to the North
5. Arrange for decommissioning and disconnection of existing HVAC connected to the houses
6. Removal of eavestroughs, signage, exterior lighting as required
7. Demolition of concrete and masonry structures attached to the houses which are required to be removed for house moving. This may include, but is not limited to:
h. Chimneys

i. Concrete steps/aprons
j. Curb stops for parking
k. Hydro meter masts
8. Accepts house in an “as-is” condition. Neither Bird/Hydro will bear any responsibility for the contents of the houses removed from site, including the building materials used in their construction.
9. Neither Bird/Hydro will accept any requests for extra work resulting from damages incurred to the houses during their relocation.
10. Decommissioning of well servicing “House to the West”
11. Cap and disconnect all water and sewage piping going to holding tanks.
12. Responsible to remove all material from site. For clarity, the only remaining items to be removed/remediated by Bird/MB Hydro will be the house foundation and holding tanks.
13. Provide insurance certificates
14. All work to take place in accordance with Bird and Manitoba Hydro Safety policies. In the event of a contradiction between the two policies, the more stringent requirement will take precedent
15. Provide all permits as required
16. Coordination with Bird/Manitoba Hydro on site access requirements
17. Allow for a (2) hour orientation for each employee
18. Provide street cleaning as required. All mud shall be cleaned off of truck tires when entering/exiting site
19. Provide safe work procedures for house removal in accordance with Bird/Manitoba Hydro Safety policies
20. Agrees to enter an unamended Bird standard subcontract for the work
21. Coordination with Manitoba Hydro for any/all Hydro line lifting as required.
22. Coordination with Manitoba Hydro for schedule requirements. Note that the House to the North will remain in use until the new Construction Division Office project is occupied.
23. Repair and make good any/all damage to surrounding landscaping, asphalt, gravel and roadways exiting site, including Suthwyn Road
24. Final installation of catch basins to be brought up to finished elevations as per drawings and specs

4. Exclusions:
1. Deck removal
2. Foundation demolition and removal
3. Removal of septic holding tanks
4. Decommissioning of Well servicing the House to the North
