Hello,

My lovely dry cabin is available for rent to responsible people. It is located halfway between Whitehorse and Haines Junction on the Alaska Highway on a quiet 10 acre shared property with two other homes.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone to live their dream of off grid living, but not too far off the grid to be dangerous. The cabin has power, a propane full size stove, electric full size refrigerator, approved wood burning stove in a modern insulated building. There is no running water, there is an outhouse. Water, showers, laundry available in the community hall for residents. Internet service & cellular works on the property, you are responsible for your own internet & phones. There are plugsins for your electronic devices like computers, phone chargers, tvs etc.

You pay for your own propane which is negligible. There is a power bill that comes that you pay your portion towards using a complicated system of meters. There are solar panels on the property to try to offset the power bill.

Want to see the northern lights at night? Or set up a youtube channel documenting off grid living in the North? This is the place. Close enough to town for employment and emergency services, far enough away to be utterly quiet and isolated. If you want to set up a garden box or flower beds, have at it.

You must have a running, insured vehicle, you can't move out there and become dependent on the neighbours to get back and forth from town or bring you groceries. It's a community, and people do neighbourly things, but you can't be a pain. This is non negotiable. The cabin is also not suitable for children because of the whole no running water thing. That's my opinion and therefore my decision. Pets are fine with approval. Your dogs can't be left to roam. People in the north have been known shoot loose dogs. I don't want any incidents. Loose cats will be picked off by the many other non human four legged residents. The property is not fenced, wildlife will stroll through.

You shovel your way in and out in the winter. The road is plowed to the property, but the track to the cabin is your responsibility. There are guys in the community you can hire to plow you out with their quads etc if you need. Bring your own wood pile, chop your own wood. You can't cut down any trees on the property. I pay for the wood stove cleaning annually.

You must have tenant's insurance, be no smokers.
There is room for boats, quads, kayaks, snowmobiles, trucks etc. but nothing that does not run can be stored there. No dead vehicles. No backyard mechanics please.

This situation only suits competent people with problem solving abilities and the ability to get along with the neighbours.

The current tenants are moving and the cabin will be available October 1st, 2024 for a year long rental period, renewable after that. Sorry, no short term rentals.
